Highlights in Review! The 3rd Global MedTech Conference

On June 11, 2026, the 3rd Global MedTech Conference was held at the Beijing Zhongguancun Exhibition Center Conference Hall. Co-hosted by MedChina (Siyu MedTech) and the Zhongguancun United Innovative Biomedical Industry Alliance, the event was co-organized by Beijing Zhongguancun Science City Innovation and Development Co., Ltd., Beijing Zhongguancun Science City Innovation and Technology Service Co., Ltd., China Beijing (Haidian) Overseas Chinese Scholars Pioneer Park, and TusStar Medical-Engineering Interdisciplinary Innovation Center. The conference attracted over 600 professional guests from government agencies, medical institutions, universities and research institutes, investment organizations, and medical device enterprises. Discussions centered on hot topics including innovative medical devices, technology transfer, industrial innovation, and international development. Two industry white papers were released, the 4th Plastic Surgery Innovation and Transformation Competition was launched, and the 2026 Global MedTech Innovation Awards were presented.

Opening: Spotlight on Innovation and Technology Transfer

At the opening ceremony, Qi Zuoliang, former President of the Plastic Surgery Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, delivered the first address. He stated that medical technology innovation is entering a new stage that places greater emphasis on clinical value and technology transfer, and expressed hope that deeper collaboration among industry, academia, research, and medicine would drive more innovative achievements toward clinical application.

Zhang Jian, Section Chief of Industry Division III, Zhongguancun Science City Management Committee, delivered an address introducing the development of the biomedical industry in Haidian District. He noted that Haidian is continuously improving its innovation ecosystem, promoting the development of medical devices, innovative pharmaceuticals, and frontier medical technologies, and providing a better industrial environment for the growth of innovative enterprises.

Innovation Awards Unveiled, Honoring Industry Innovation

The 2026 Global MedTech Innovation Awards ceremony was held on-site.

The Global MedTech Innovation Awards focus on innovative device R&D, clinical application innovation, and technology transfer practices, recognizing enterprises and institutions that have achieved outstanding performance in the medical technology field over the past year.

Among the Global MedTech Innovation Awards, the following enterprises were honored: Beijing PINS Medical Co., Ltd., Beijing Tonghe Litai Biotechnology Co., Ltd., SinoVision Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd., Qingdao Haier Biomedical Co., Ltd., Shanghai United Imaging Healthcare Co., Ltd., Chengdu NOVEL MEDICAL Equipment Co., Ltd., GenLight MedTech Ltd., Ambulanc (Shenzhen) Tech. Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Zhongke Jingcheng Medical Technology Co., Ltd., and Hunan Antitumor and Health Reconstruction Biotechnology Co., Ltd.

Meanwhile, the 2026 Global Ophthalmology Innovation Awards and the 2026 Global Cardiovascular Innovation Awards were also presented, recognizing representative innovative enterprises, medical institutions, and innovative achievements in the ophthalmology and cardiovascular fields.

4th Plastic Surgery Innovation and Transformation Competition Launched

During the conference, the 4th Plastic Surgery Innovation and Transformation Competition was officially launched.

He Jiantao, Chairman of Beijing Zhongguancun Life and Health Industry Service Co., Ltd., introduced the competition. Subsequently, Qi Zuoliang, former President of the Plastic Surgery Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Yao Guijin, Director of the Badachu Plastic Surgery Medical Concept Verification Center, jointly participated in the launch ceremony.

The Plastic Surgery Innovation and Transformation Competition, initiated by the Plastic Surgery Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, aims to promote the transfer of medical innovation achievements, foster deep integration between clinical needs and industrial innovation, and build an exchange and collaboration platform among physicians, research teams, and industry.


Two White Papers Officially Released

During the white paper release session, Zhao Qing, Founder of MedChina (Siyu MedTech) and Secretary-General of the Zhongguancun United Innovative Biomedical Industry Alliance, officially released the China Innovative Medical Devices White Paper 2026 and delivered a keynote presentation titled "Others' Answers, or Our Own Questions — The Next Chapter of China's Medical Device Innovation."

Based on long-term tracking research in the innovative medical devices field, this white paper systematically reviews the development status of China's innovative medical devices, registration and approval trends, and industrial landscape.

Subsequently, Yao Guijin, Director of the Badachu Plastic Surgery Medical Concept Verification Center, released the Medical Innovation and Transformation White Paper 2026, sharing insights on pathways for medical technology transfer, concept verification system construction, and innovation and transformation practices.

Technology Innovation and Technology Transfer: Multi-Dimensional Exploration by Hospitals, Industry, and Capital

Entering the main forum, Liu Hui, Director of the Beijing Medical and Health Technology Development Center, shared insights on policies related to Beijing's medical and health industry and medical devices, introducing the latest developments in innovative medical devices, technology transfer, industrial support, and innovation ecosystem construction in Beijing.

Yu Yang, Vice President of Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, Capital Medical University, delivered a keynote presentation titled "Technology Innovation Driving High-Quality Hospital Development." Drawing on the hospital's practical experience, she introduced the important role of technology innovation in discipline development, technology transfer, and high-quality hospital development, and shared the hospital's explorations in promoting the implementation of innovative achievements.

Wang Zaizun, Chief Analyst of Medical Devices at CITIC Securities, Co-Chief Analyst of Healthcare, and Analyst at the Future Industry Research Institute, delivered a keynote presentation titled "From Domestic Substitution to Innovation Leadership: A New Journey for the Internationalization of Chinese Medical Devices." He argued that as domestic innovation capabilities continue to improve, Chinese medical device enterprises are gradually moving from domestic substitution to global market competition, and that internationalization has become an important direction for industry development.

Xie Zhijian, Chief Product Officer of Qingdao Haier Biomedical Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote presentation titled "Smart Pharmacy Going Global: From Equipment Export to System Adaptation." Drawing on the company's internationalization experience, he shared the development pathway from single equipment export to system solution delivery, as well as the experiences and reflections of Chinese medical technology enterprises participating in global competition.

The morning session presented diverse perspectives on the innovative development of the medical technology industry, from hospital innovation system construction and technology transfer pathways to internationalization development trends, and provided new reflections on how innovative achievements can achieve industrial implementation.

Afternoon Session: From Biomaterials to Global Registration, Exploring New Pathways for Medical Technology Innovation

The afternoon session was moderated by Cui Jing, Founding Partner of Jiuhao Capital, focusing on hot directions including biomaterials, surgical robots, artificial intelligence, technology transfer, and international registration. Multiple guests from research institutions, enterprises, and industry research organizations shared their latest observations and practical experiences in their respective fields.

Li Yi, Deputy Director of the Functional Materials Institute at the Yangtze River Delta National Innovation Center, delivered a keynote presentation titled "Biomaterial Innovation Breaking Through: Integrating Industry Chains to Empower High-Value Medical Device Transfer and Implementation." She stated that biomaterials are an important foundation for high-end medical device innovation, and that their R&D involves not only breakthroughs in the materials themselves but also the integration of multiple links including R&D, verification, production, and clinical application. Focusing on industry chain collaboration and innovation resource integration, Li Yi shared practical experiences in promoting the transfer and implementation of biomaterial achievements.

Ye Jing, Chief Analyst of Healthcare at Northeast Securities, delivered a keynote presentation titled "Laparoscopic Robot Industry's Dual Breakthrough: From Domestic Substitution to Global Competition." Combining industry data and market development trends, she analyzed the rapid growth of domestic laparoscopic surgical robots in recent years and argued that as technology maturity improves and commercialization accelerates, domestic enterprises are gradually moving from local market competition to global deployment.

Focusing on Innovation Implementation, Discussing the Future of the Industry

From innovative medical devices to technology transfer, from hospital innovation system construction to globalization pathways, from biomaterials and artificial intelligence to surgical robots and nuclear medicine imaging, the 3rd Global MedTech Conference showcased the latest explorations and practices of China's medical technology industry.

During the conference, the Innovative Medical Device Awards, Ophthalmology Innovation Awards, and Cardiovascular Innovation Awards were announced successively; the China Innovative Medical Devices White Paper 2026 and the Medical Innovation and Transformation White Paper 2026 were officially released; and the 4th Plastic Surgery Innovation and Transformation Competition was launched simultaneously. Guests engaged in in-depth exchanges on multiple topics including innovative device R&D, technology transfer, and industrial collaborative development.

With this, the 3rd Global MedTech Conference concluded successfully. As innovation capabilities continue to improve and the industrial ecosystem is continuously refined, how to drive more innovative achievements toward clinical transfer, industrial implementation, and further expansion into global markets will become a critical agenda item.
