On the afternoon of June 11, 2026, the 2nd Global Ophthalmology Conference was held at the Beijing Zhongguancun Exhibition Center Conference Hall. Co-hosted by MedTech (Siyu MedTech) and EyeFuture, the event was co-organized by the Zhongguancun United Innovative Biomedical Industry Alliance, Beijing Zhongguancun Science City Innovation and Development Co., Ltd., Beijing Zhongguancun Science City Innovation and Technology Service Co., Ltd., China Beijing (Haidian) Overseas Chinese Scholars Pioneer Park, and TusStar Medical-Engineering Interdisciplinary Innovation Center. The conference focused on hot directions including ophthalmic innovative devices, cell and gene therapy, artificial intelligence, medical imaging, optometry, and consumer healthcare, and officially released the Global Ophthalmology Innovation and Growth White Paper 2026 on-site, jointly exploring innovation and growth opportunities in China's ophthalmology industry.
Spotlight on Innovation and Growth, Discussing New Opportunities in the Ophthalmology Industry
Zhao Qing, Editor-in-Chief of MedTech (Siyu MedTech) and EyeFuture, and Secretary-General of the Zhongguancun United Innovative Biomedical Industry Alliance, delivered a keynote presentation titled "The Next Chapter of Ophthalmology Innovation: From Product Innovation to Full-Cycle Visual Management" and released the Global Ophthalmology Innovation and Growth White Paper 2026. Combining domestic and international ophthalmology industry development trends, she systematically reviewed key directions including innovative devices, innovative pharmaceuticals, consumer healthcare, and artificial intelligence, and proposed that the ophthalmology industry is gradually moving from single product innovation toward full-cycle visual management covering prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. The white paper simultaneously released the latest global ophthalmology industry development trends, innovative product layouts, and market opportunity analyses.

Yuan Jin, President of Beijing Tongren Hospital, Capital Medical University, delivered a keynote presentation titled "Challenges and Practices in Ophthalmology Innovation and Transformation." Drawing on years of clinical, research, and hospital management experience, he analyzed development opportunities for ophthalmology in fields such as artificial intelligence, cell therapy, gene therapy, and high-end equipment, noting that ophthalmology, with its clearly defined clinical needs, rich data resources, and high degree of technology integration, represents an important track for medical innovation. Regarding technology transfer, he shared Tongren Hospital's exploratory practices in medical-engineering interdisciplinary collaboration, technology transfer, and achievement incubation, as well as experiences and reflections on driving innovative achievements toward clinical application.

Jin Zibing, Vice President of Beijing Tongren Hospital, Capital Medical University, delivered a keynote presentation titled "New Opportunities in Ophthalmic Cell and Gene Therapy." Combining the latest domestic and international research progress, he systematically introduced the development status and industrialization trends of ophthalmic cell therapy and gene therapy, with a focus on innovative explorations in fields such as inherited retinal diseases and corneal diseases. Jin Zibing stated that due to its unique anatomical structure and disease characteristics, ophthalmology has become one of the important application scenarios for cell and gene therapy, and is expected to welcome more breakthrough innovative achievements in the future.

Shi Xianmei, Deputy General Manager and Board Secretary of AUTEK China Inc., delivered a keynote presentation titled "From Craftsmanship Products to Industrial Ecosystem — The Journey of Optometry Consumer Healthcare." She reviewed the development history of China's optometry industry, analyzed market changes in myopia prevention and control, optometry services, and consumer healthcare, and combined enterprise practice to share the development pathway from product innovation to service system construction and then to industrial ecosystem building. She believes that as public awareness of eye health continues to improve, the optometry industry is welcoming new development opportunities.

Chen Xinjian, Founder and Chairman of BigVision, delivered a keynote presentation titled "From Laboratory to Clinic: The Breakthrough Journey of the World's First Medical OCT AI Class III Certificate." Combining the current situation of continuous growth in patients with fundus diseases, particularly age-related macular degeneration (AMD), in China, he introduced the value of AI-assisted screening in improving early detection rates and grassroots diagnostic and treatment capabilities, and shared his team's technological innovation and clinical validation work around OCT imaging artificial intelligence. Chen Xinjian stated that the approval of the world's first medical OCT AI Class III medical device registration certificate has provided a new technical pathway for fundus disease screening, diagnosis, and long-term management.

Sun Yongli, Marketing Director of HAOHAI HEALTH Ophthalmology Group, delivered a keynote presentation titled "Innovation-Driven, New-Quality Future — Innovation and Transformation Practices of Ophthalmic Medical Device Enterprises." Combining changes in China's ophthalmic disease spectrum and aging trends, she shared the company's innovation layout in fields such as cataracts, optometry, ocular surface, and fundus diseases. Focusing on the domestic development of high-end intraocular lenses, she introduced the company's continuous innovation in materials, processes, and optical design, as well as the latest progress in the functional intraocular lens field; simultaneously, combining the R&D journey of innovative fundus products, she shared the company's practical experience in collaborative innovation with clinical experts and driving the implementation of technology transfer achievements.

Wang Xiaofei, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Beihang University, delivered a keynote presentation titled "Why Eyes Also Need 'Mechanical Testing': Principles, Methods, and Application Prospects of Ocular Biomechanics Measurement." Focusing on the biomechanical properties of ocular tissues such as the cornea, sclera, and retina, he introduced the important role of ocular biomechanics in refractive surgery, myopia prevention and control, glaucoma treatment, and implantable device R&D, and systematically analyzed the current development status and application prospects of ocular biomechanics measurement technologies.

Xu Feng, Director of Non-Clinical Research at Shenzhen Ruitong Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote presentation titled "The 'Second Evolution' of Lacrimal Duct Plugs: From Mechanical Occlusion to Ocular Surface Microenvironment Regulation via Drug-Loaded Long-Acting Sustained-Release Strategies." Combining changes in dry eye disease diagnosis and treatment concepts, he introduced the development trend of lacrimal duct plugs from simple physical occlusion toward drug-loaded long-acting sustained-release. Addressing clinical pain points such as poor long-term medication compliance and low drug utilization rates among dry eye patients, Xu Feng shared exploration progress in drug-loaded lacrimal duct plugs regarding continuous drug delivery, stable drug release, and ocular surface microenvironment regulation, and analyzed the application prospects of such products in dry eye treatment as well as development opportunities for related domestic innovative products.

Lin Jun, Co-Founder of Jiangsu Fuhang Medical Industry Development Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote presentation titled "Innovative OCT Technology, Leading a New Paradigm for Precision Diagnosis and Treatment of Infant Retina." Focusing on the long-standing industry gap of lack of dedicated equipment for infant retinal examination, he introduced the company's technological exploration and innovative practice in the infant OCT field. Addressing challenges such as infants' difficulty in cooperating with examinations and the incompatibility of traditional adult OCT devices, the team achieved precision detection of infant retina through technological innovations including contact imaging, adjustable optical path design, and color photography-OCT fusion imaging. Lin Jun also combined clinical scenarios such as retinopathy of prematurity, amblyopia, and inherited eye diseases to share the application value of infant OCT in retinal development research, early disease screening, and precision diagnosis and treatment.

Finally, Wang Chong, Vice President of Ocumension Therapeutics and Head of Investor Relations at Ocumension Hong Kong, delivered a keynote presentation titled "Innovation and Growth: Ocumension's Exploration and Practice." Combining development trends in the ophthalmic pharmaceutical market, he analyzed growth opportunities in segments such as fundus diseases, dry eye, myopia, and presbyopia, and introduced Ocumension's layout and practice in the ophthalmic pharmaceutical field. Focusing on directions such as myopia prevention and control, dry eye treatment, presbyopia treatment, and fundus disease medication, Wang Chong shared the company's progress in product R&D, commercialization operations, and international cooperation, as well as its exploration in driving ophthalmic pharmaceutical innovation through dosage form innovation and drug-device combination approaches.

Continuous Innovation Emerges, Ophthalmology Industry Enters a New Stage
From cell and gene therapy to AI-assisted diagnosis, from innovative device R&D to consumer healthcare practice, from basic research to technology transfer, this Global Ophthalmology Conference showcased the latest explorations of China's ophthalmology industry in innovation and growth.
As population aging intensifies, myopia prevention and control demands increase, and precision medical technologies continue to develop, ophthalmology is becoming an important field where medical devices, innovative pharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence, and consumer healthcare are deeply integrated. At the conference, multiple experts and enterprise representatives exchanged views on industry trends, technological breakthroughs, and clinical applications, also demonstrating the development trend of China's ophthalmology industry from single-point innovation toward systemic innovation, and from product breakthroughs toward full-cycle eye health management.
The Zhongguancun United Innovative Biomedical Industry Alliance (ZLSHIA) is a formally registered non-profit corporate entity under the Beijing Civil Affairs Bureau, aimed at responding to national strategic planning for the biomedical industry, building government-enterprise exchange platforms, voicing for the biomedical industry alliance, promoting industry-academia-research collaborative innovation, and boosting the development of the biomedical industry.
The alliance's predecessor was the "Zhongguancun Biomedical Industry Alliance." In 2015, it was registered as the "Zhongguancun United Innovative Biomedical Industry Alliance" in accordance with Civil Affairs Bureau requirements. "Lianxin" (联新) means united innovation.
The alliance recruits enterprise and research institution members from across the country in the biomedical field.
The alliance provides various resource docking services for member units. It has cumulatively participated in promoting 15 industrial policy innovations; led or participated in the formulation of over 20 biomedical industry policies or industrial plans for governments at all levels nationwide; led or participated in over 30 biomedical industrial park construction planning and consulting projects nationwide; led or recommended member units to participate in over 50 major science and technology or platform projects; and hosted or co-hosted over 500 exhibitions, forums, and salon events.
