Surgerii Robotics Single-Port Surgical Robot Expands to Four Major Surgical Fields in China
May 8, 2025
Surgerii Robotics' single-port surgical robot has received expanded approval from China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for use in urology, gynecology, general surgery, and thoracic procedures. This makes it the first and only single-port robot in China to cover all four major surgical specialties, marking a significant advancement in minimally invasive surgery.

Since its initial approval in 2023, Surgerii Robotics’ robot has been adopted by top-tier hospitals nationwide, with over 50 medical centers utilizing its snake-like arm technology. It has enabled complex procedures, including gastric and lung cancer surgeries, with greater precision and minimal incisions. Notably, the system facilitated China’s first transcontinental remote thoracic surgery in April 2025, with a team in Suzhou operating on a patient in Europe.
Breaking Boundaries in Thoracic and General Surgery
Surgerii Robotics' flexible "snake-arm" design overcomes limitations of traditional single-port techniques, allowing intricate maneuvers through a single 3–4 cm incision. Clinical trials led by Shanghai Ruijin Hospital and Guangzhou Medical University demonstrated its efficacy in high-difficulty procedures, with findings published in International Journal of Surgery and Chinese Medical Journal.
"Surgerii Robotics' technology has matched or surpassed international benchmarks," remarked Dr. Diego González Rivas, a global leader in thoracic surgery.
Global Reach and Remote Innovation
The system’s 5G-enabled remote platform, SURG-Box, has supported cross-border surgeries, including a landmark operation between China and Romania. Surgerii Robotics continues to explore applications in cardiac and head-neck surgeries, reinforcing China’s role in next-gen surgical robotics.
