August 20, 2025
magAssist, a Chinese medical device company focused on advanced circulatory and respiratory support systems, has been nominated for the prestigious Prix Galien USA Award in the “Best Startup” category.
The company was selected among 53 nominees in its category by the Galien Foundation, an organization known for honoring groundbreaking innovations in life sciences that offer significant clinical benefits. The nomination recognizes products that have received U.S. FDA approval or designation within the past five years, with an emphasis on scientific originality and patient impact rather than commercial success.

magAssist’s nominated portfolio includes the extracorporeal ventricular assist device MoyoAssist®, the minimally invasive NyokAssist® VAD—which has received FDA Breakthrough Device designation—and the portable ECMO system BreathMo®. These technologies are designed for acute cardiac and pulmonary support, targeting high-risk clinical scenarios.
This year’s Prix Galien USA Awards saw multiple Chinese companies nominated across categories—a first in the award’s history—signaling the growing influence of China’s medtech innovation on the global stage.
The winner will be announced on October 30, 2025, at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
